We all received presents at Wednesday's Luncheon

One of our members was kind enough to bring in brownies for everyone. The brownies were packaged in groups of four, so each of us could take them away to eat at our leisure. I ate one of mine for dessert at the luncheon and the rest of them within the following twenty four hours. Delicious.

Below is a picture shot at Wednesday's luncheon. Left to right:  Nancy Loy, Doug Jones, Benson Simon.

Another photo from Wednesday. Left to right: Nancy Loy, Benson Simon, Teresa Williams, Karen Eckert, Paul Zavattero.

Matt Koch arrived after the photo session ended,

The last luncheon of the semester and thoughts about the semester

Attendance at the luncheons was down this semester, and a month ago I pondered whether to continue them or not in the future. Eventually I decided not to worry about it as long as the people who attend have a good time. It also helped that a couple of people remarked at a recent luncheon on how helpful it was to exchange information at the luncheons about various topics relating to being a retired person in college.

Having gotten beyond worrying about attendance, I went ahead with two luncheons in May even though attendance often falls off at the end of the semester. On Tuesday, there were only four of us: Mike Carliner, Benson Simon, Paul Zavattero, and myself, but the discussions were good and, more importantly, people seemed to enjoy themselves.

April 18th Luncheon

Present were Mike Carliner, Matt Koch, Doug Jones, Benson Simon, and Mike Benefiel. We covered a lot of historical ground since Mike Benefiel is taking a class on Korean history and Mike Carliner is taking a course in the Classics department which covers the ancient Roman influences on modern Italian cinema. I learn a lot from both Mikes.
