Looking ahead to the Spring Semester

We're planning a behind-the-scene tour of The Clarice Smith Center for the Performing Arts.  Benson Simon organized one last year which was very popular, and he will try for a duplicate event next semester.  We'll try for two tours, one for people on campus Monday/Wednesday and another for the Tuesday/Thursday crowd.


Yesterday's luncheon was the last for this semester, and among the topics of conversation were whether people had plans for which courses they'll take next.  Unusual for me, I have determined my choices early.  Becky Tidman is uncertain if her travel plans will allow her to register for any, but she will attend some of our luncheons between trips.  Benson says he'll consult with some of the professors before choosing.  I think that's a good approach.

A cold, rainy day...

...but a nice luncheon.  On the drive home, I once again thought about what interesting conversations take place on these gatherings.  It also occurred to me that the members tend to be good listeners as well.  Plenty to listen to, chuckle at the wit, and sometimes later mull over.

A couple of suggestions at today's luncheon...

A few of us confessed to a problem learning and remembering names, and a couple of ideas were offered.  Below is a list of those who attended today because some felt that seeing the names immediately following the luncheon would help visualizing and remembering the person.  During the discussion I asked if anyone had objections to their name appearing here, and no one did.  Another idea which has been done in the past is to fill out name tags as people arrive, so I'll bring some to the next luncheon.

Today's Luncheon

We had ten people brave the rainy weather to meet in Adele's.  Nice meeting newcomers Ed, Dennis, and David and seeing everyone else again.

October 7, Luncheon

We had a good Tuesday turn-out.  Lots of new faces, and I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to talk with everyone.

After filling up the initial table, we needed the restaurant to add two more to accommodate the 16 Golden IDers who attended.

All members of the Golden ID program, and their friends and family, are invited to meet at Adele's Restaurant in the Student Union between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm on Wednesday, October 1. Hope to see you there.
